Even the Trees Praise the Lord!

The Lord or cyberspace or some other uncontrollable force saved you from my first post. Blogger froze, and I lost an hour of my life to "unsaved changes." What is it about trials common to man {at least common to bloggers} that sends the heart into self-control off/self-pity-hyperdrive?

Best part, my post was about worshipping through a hard heart. Insisting on praise to replace gripe. My self-will is being tested.

So what happened? Did I reach deep in my soul and pull out a nugget of praise for the Lord. Not so much. I shut the computer in disgust, rounded up the natives and went to Trader Joe's, still frustrated by my morning.

Little things. I think God reveals himself through common occurrences, testing our attention to detail, developing our eye for him. Today, my smile returned during Gwennan's backseat concert. A sampling:
Jesus love me. He asleep but wake up long.
Twinkle little star. How I wonder how you doing.
Round the bus. Round the bus. Wipers-wipers-swish-swish-swish. All through the town! {second verse} Ducks on bus-quack-quack-quack. Me: Wait, there are ducks on your bus? Her: Yeah. Just like my cb. {Apparently, her cd is describing a bus in India.}
{spoken} Monkeys on the bed. {sung} Roll over. Roll over. {shouted} Bunk their head! and Zero. No more monkeys in da bed!
Gwennan isn't the only one raising her voice in song. During lunch, the backyard sings. Not literally with birds, but a heavenly rustling of trees. Leaves slap each other and a soft clap arises.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12

Then the trees of the forrest will sing, they will sing for joy before the Lord, 1 Chronicles 16:33
The girls play in dancing shadows on the patio. The leaves sing the creation song while the girls hum their made-up tunes. A song of praise enters my head, re-centering my thoughts on the Lord.

What song re-centers your worship right now?
