My feet cannot stay still; my eyes snatch glances skyward; my heart leaps. I am Narnia seeing a crocus poke through snow. He's coming... The King is coming... Not as a helpless baby this time. No. As the One to whom every knee will bow. He already won. Can you feel it?
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18
Nothing gives me more hope than the thought of Jesus seated at the right hand of God. The ultimate good, Christ's exaltation, came from the ultimate bad, his crucifixion. I find no words. How beautiful is the will of the Lord.
Encourage one another with these words. Encourage one another and build one another up." 1 Thessalonians 4:18, 5:11
Those of you who are with Christ: We know the end! We know the King! That is our hope, hope that levels our journey and elevates our path. Anymore, my greatest trials come not from money or stress or physical pain, but from my own sin. The greatest battle I face is walking consistently with the Lord, to keep the cross always before me. The greatest discouragement is in my failure to live righteously. For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. Romans 7:18
When I face my sinful self, recognize how many godless hours I spend pursuing useless stuff, I want to tear the Sermon on the Mount from my Bible. It will never happen.
Not true! Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24. Sanctify, make holy or righteous. My holiness is God's will. The King of all creation is on my team against sin and death's sting. My great daily hope is in His faithfulness to complete His purpose in me.
All love, faith and hope to the Most High God who has overcome! The cross delivered me. It is finished. I look to the sky for my source of hope, the King who reigns in power. Lord, haste the day.
In the lyrics of David Crowder, "We've already won, and you (sin) don't stand a chance."
